Tiawa finds solace in the “Mountains of Metal”

By Tayo Odutola Word Is Bond

Emerging UK singer Tiawa delivers her third single “Mountains of Metal.” A heartfelt and insightful song that showcases the singer’s versatility and range over soft Latin guitar arrangements, airy flutes, and soft drums to match. The song inspired by Tiawa’s brother’s induction into manhood explores the dynamics of growth, self-exploration steeped in engaging storytelling skills. She delivers a solid performance with a unique ethereal vocal tone ripe with sublime melodies and evocative lyrics.

“Mountains of Metal” is taken from her forthcoming debut album, Moonlit Train. The project is a conceptual record that maps a metaphorical train journey from heartbreak and relationships through to healing and liberation. Gently easing between soul, 90s hip-hop, and Latin-folk that harks back to her Portuguese heritage, the inspiration for the LP comes from the rebellious spirit of reggae, the pace of lyricism in reggaeton, and the romanticism of doo-wop.
