(CNN)After spending a week in intensive care at a Los Angeles hospital for a severe throat infection, comedian Sarah Silverman says she’s “insanely lucky to be alive.”
In a candid post on Facebook, Silverman writes that she went to the doctor last week for a sore throat and learned she had a potentially life threatening bacterial infection called epiglottitis. She describes her ordeal and credits the staff who cared for her at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for saving her life.
