Miley Cyrus Dropped Her Album And The “Love Someone” Lyrics Are So, So Savage

With the release of Miley Cyrus’ new album, , it’s time to put on the detective hat and get to work digging into the songs. The “Love Someone” lyrics are a huge diss to someone who messed with Miley the wrong way. Let’s get to work and unpack some of the clues in this track.

Lyrics from the snippet Cyrus posted on Instagram include: “To make somebody stay you gotta love someone… you gotta love someone.” But what does it all mean? Here are the full lyrics:

Ouch. Let’s dig a little deeper into Cyrus’ album’s overall theme for some hints. In May, the singer explained how her new album would be an attempt at “giving the world a hug,” as she told Billboard:

I have to ask myself, ‘How am I going to create real change?’ And not just f—ing preach to the choir anymore. This record is a reflection of the fact that yes, I don’t give a f*ck, but right now is not a time to not give a f*ck about people. I’m giving the world a hug and saying, ‘Hey, look. We’re good — I love you.’ And I hope you can say you love me back.

It seems like “Love Someone” is all about Miley getting rid of the negativity in her life and staying away from people who hurt her. Perhaps “Love Someone” is about doing what makes you happy and distancing yourself from those who don’t. It also could be written about an ex or someone the singer still has bad blood with.

In terms of what the entire album means to Cyrus, the singer said on :

I had a lot of butterflies performing ‘Malibu,’ ‘Inspired,’ ‘Younger Now’ because it’s the first time where… it’s really like publishing your diary where you let everyone in. So I’ve always written my songs but always had collaborators bouncing back and forth on ideas. And this time it’s just saying, ‘Hey, here’s exactly what I think and feel about what I go through.’

In addition, Cyrus told DeGeneres that the song “Rainbowland” is “saying if all of us are so different and we all look so different and different shades of humanity, what a rainbow we could really be and live in that land and celebrate it.”

Are you feeling those peace, love, and happiness vibes yet?

If not, take a look at what Cyrus said about doing her part to make the world a better place, as she told NPR:

I’m doing what I need to do. I’m working in my community. I’m changing the way people view sexuality. I’m working with suicide prevention programs. I’m feeding people that don’t have food to eat. I’m doing my part as a human. You better go do your part if you’re gonna even have one little opinion about what I do. You better be doing some great things for your community.

When Cyrus posted the teaser on Twitter, fans were (no pun intended) the track, with comments such as: “LOVE SOMEONE FOR THE NEXT SINGLE PLEASE,” “ITS SO GOOD OMG,” “I cant wait,” and “Those vocals omg.”

Cyrus can make more of an impact in a 13-second teaser clip than most singers can in a full song. Just sayin’.
