Beatrock Music announces two new releases!

October is considered in the United States as Filipino-American History Month. It was declared as such by the Filipino American National History Society (FANHS) in October 1992. It was created to celebrate the traditions and the contributions that Filipinos have made in society.

Beatrock Music is no stranger to this at all. Their roster has been dedicating their lives speaking on the peaks and valleys of the American Filipino/a experiences in America, including how life is/was in the motherland. Fans come to support these events in droves when their favorite artists come to town.

Last night, Beatrock announced two releases from G YAMAZAWA and the poetess Faith Santilla (you recognize her from Ruby Ibarra‘s 2017 heavy-hitter “Us” spiting this chilling poem). YAMAZAWA’s THINKPEACE, and Santilla’s upcoming album are both produced entirely by labelmate FATGUMS.

Santilla’s debut album, A Slow Build to Power is Beatrock’s first spoken word album project that’s set to be released soon. The first single, When Womxn and Grrrls Are Killed, is a piece that’s inspired by the 2015 killings of two Latina women: Briana Gallegos and Gabby Calzada. In the poem, you could hear voices saying the names of those who succumbed to these senseless killings.
