The KickDrums is the musical alias of producer/singer/songwriter Alex Fitts who brings something refreshing to the scene with his brand of genre-bending musical style. His newest single “She Killed Me With Her Eyes” is a bass-guitar-laden track ripe with lush keys, punchy drum grooves, and sublime synth arrangement to boot.
“She Killed Me With Her Eyes” is the 1st single from The KickDrums’ forthcoming LP, The Ghost Tapes. The 2nd single “Optimistic Captive” comes out Sept. 29. He has worked with artists like 50 Cent, Kid Cudi, Freddie Gibbs, A$AP Rocky & Lana Del Rey, as well as remixes for Adele, Kanye West, & Linkin Park. He’s also collaborated with hip-hop/R&B heavyweights, incl. RZA, MGK, & SZA.
The KickDrums put out their debut artist LP, Meet Your Ghost, in 2011 via Last Gang Records, followed by 2013’s Thinking Out Loud, with Hopeless Records, as well as a collaborative album with rapper Duckwrth in 2015. Fast forward a few years, when Fitts found himself moving from his apartment in New York all the way across the Atlantic to Spain. After years of releasing music non-stop, Fitts took time to step away from his work, allowing him to clear his mind for a fresh start. He self-released his first album since moving to Spain, Blurred Colors, in 2020, and has only been building his repertoire since. His new LP, The Ghost Tapes, is due in fall 2021.
