Michael Jordan Releases Statement Regarding Death Of George Floyd

NBA legend Michael Jordan has released a statement regarding the death of George Floyd, police brutality, and the protests sweeping cities across the United States.

“I am deeply saddened, truly pained and plain angry. I see and feel everyone’s pain, outrage and frustration. I stand with those who are calling out the ingrained racism and violence toward people of color in our country. We have had enough,” he begins his letter, posted to the Jordan brand’s Twitter account.

“I don’t have the answers, but our collective voices show strength and the inability to be divided by others,” he continues. “We must listen to each other, show compassion and empathy and never turn our backs on senseless brutality. We need to continue peaceful expressions against injustice and demand accountability. Our unified voice needs to put pressure on our leaders to change our laws, or else we need to use our vote to create systemic change. Every one of us needs to be part of the solution, and we must work together to ensure justice for all.”

Jordan faced criticism for his lack of political involvement during the recent documentary, The Last Dance. When asked to support Harvey Gantt for senator in North Carolina, in 1990,  Jordan reportedly told teammates, “Republicans buy sneakers, too.”

Ro James Releases Sophomore Album, "MANTIC," Ft. Miguel, Brandy & More

Ro James came through with his sophomore album, MANTIC, on Friday (May 29th), chocked full of smooth, soulful tunes including features from Miguel, Brandy and Masego. After dropping a handful of singles to lead up to the album’s release, including the Miguel-featured “Too Much,” and Brandy-featured “Plan B,” MANTIC has finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait.

The title of the album serves as the remainder of the word “romantic” when combined with his first name, but there’s a deeper meaning to it than that. “The music I create evokes a feeling of romance, but I wanted to dissect that word and break it down by taking the ‘ro’ out of it,” Ro explained. “MANTIC refers to divination and prophecy—seeking knowledge of the future through supernatural means. Speaking things into existence and living forward, having faith in where you’re supposed to be and where you’re going.” Check out MANTIC and let us know what you think of Ro James’ sophomore effort.

MANTIC Tracklist

1. Powder Room – IntRO
2. Last Time
3. Touchy Feely
4. Be Mine
5. Rain
6. Cherry On Top – Interlude
