Remy Ma Defends Fat Joe In "State Of The Culture" N-Word Discussion: "He's Black"

The “n-word” debate rages on, and this time the four co-hosts of State of the Culture talked about artists who “opt in and out of blackness.” During their recent discussion, Joe Budden brought up being at shows where white people would use it as a term of endearment. “If you speak to them, they’re gonna probably say or echo some of what Fat Joe was saying: ‘I grew up this way,'” Budden said. “And that’s my only issue when it comes to the multi-race conversation is I don’t have a choice. I love this black sh*t. I’m black, it’s rich, it’s heritage…”

“Let me stop you right there,” Remy said interjecting. It’s no secret that Fat Joe and Remy have a close relationship as longtime collaborators and good friends. She said, “People like Joe that grew up in the South Bronx, they didn’t have a choice, neither.” Budden added that he was going to mention that Fat Joe “has always been that. Black.” Remy continued that her friend has been that way his entire life. “I’ve seen pictures. I know his whole family. This didn’t happen when he decided to become a rapper or [an] artist. ‘Yeah, I’m gonna use the word n*gga because this sounds cool.’…He’s black. Like, that’s it.”

Budden, along with the other hosts, stated that they don’t have a problem with Fat Joe being black and saying the n-word, but Budden stated that he’s not comfortable with Logic saying it. Co-host Eboni K. Williams argued that she’s not okay with Jennifer Lopez saying “n*gga” in her lyrics to her 2001 hit song “I’m Real” featuring Ja Rule while later rejecting her blackness as her career propelled upward.

“My experience of her is someone who opts in and out of blackness as it is convenient for her,” Eboni said. Remy retorted that Jennifer Lopez was raised in the same neighborhood as Fat Joe. The rapper stated that people, like her co-hosts, often see artists such as Fat Joe or Lopez only as Latino and don’t allow them to identify as black. Check out the clip below and check what else Remy had to say about black people who reject their culture, below.

Chevy Woods Comes Through With "Run It Up"

Taylor Gang is putting in work these days. Wiz Khalifa has pretty much been releasing new music on a daily basis including a collab with Chevy Woods a few days ago. Now, we haven’t heard a whole lot from Chevy over the summer but thankfully, he’s back with his latest song, “Run It Up.” His new song strays away from some of the sounds he was dabbling with on his previous project. He embraces auto-tune to the fullest over a bouncy, bass-heavy beat.

This is possibly a hint at the direction we’ll see from Chevy Woods in the future. He’s proven time and time again that he’s quite versatile in his musical capabilities.

Keep your eyes peeled for new music from Chevy Woods and peep his new song below.

Quotable Lyrics
N***a you big cap
Watchin’ my bitch match
Got Fendi on top of the Louis
I like to mismatch

Ruby Rose Risked "Becoming Paralyzed" Due To "Batwoman" Stunts

Ruby Rose is CW's new Batwoman and the job did not come without some injuries that put her mobility at risk. The 33-year-old actress posted a graphic video to her Instagram feed that sees her undergoing spinal surgery since she injured two discs in her back from doing stunts as Batwoman. Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images"To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck... A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed... I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms," she captioned the video. The Orange Is The New Black actress thanked the surgeon for allowing her to "keep working and doing" what she loves. "I am forever in your debt. And to anyone asking why I let them video it.. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under," she added. View this post on InstagramTo everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck... Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez Had A "Beautifully Elegant" Engagement Party This Past Weekend

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged in March of this year and have made it very clear that there’s no rush to run to the alter, as they want to take their time to make their wedding day right. “We really see this as something that’s gonna be forever, and we’re gonna just take our time and do it right. And do it not rushed,” JLo previously stated

It looks as though the special day may be closer than ever since the couple held their engagement party this past weekend. The event looked to be an intimate gathering of Jennifer and Alex’s children and close family members and friends.

“So great celebrating with family and close friends last night,” ARod captioned an image he posted of the night JLo said was “beautifully elegant.”

“You make my world a more beautiful safe and stable place… in the midst of our ever-changing, ever-moving life… you make me feel like a teenager starting out all over again,” J-Lo previously penned celebrating her and ARod’s two year anniversary. ” Every time I think I have you pegged, you surprise me in the most wonderful ways reminding me how blessed I am to have found you now in this moment at this time.”

Rolling Loud L.A. Lineup Features A$AP Rocky & Lil Uzi Vert As Headliners

Rolling Loud has become the biggest music festival in hip hop. Starting in Miami in 2014, it has expanded to hosting multiple festivals throughout the year. Rolling Loud now takes place in Northern California, Southern California, New York, Japan, Hong Kong, and has its eyes set on setting up shop in Europe soon. This past weekend, they held their Bay Area iteration and, as always, it looked like a massive success.

Riding the momentum sparked by all the videos circling the Internet of Saturday and Sunday’s performances, Rolling Loud just released the lineup for their Los Angeles festival, which will be held at Banc of California Stadium and Exposition Park on December 14-15. Their lineups tend to feature the usual cats, never missing out on the biggest artists in hip hop today. However, the most exciting part of the lineup reveals is seeing how Rolling Loud often manages to keep up with the rapid pace of the genre by booking up-and-coming acts. The list of cutting-edge artists is ever-growing and the festival continues to expand to accommodate them.

Rolling Loud Los Angeles will be headlined by Chance the Rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD and Young Thug on Day 1, and Future, A$AP Rocky and Meek Mill on Day 2. Check out the full lineup below. Tickets go on sale via Rolling Loud’s website on Friday, October 4 at 11 AM PT.

Schoolboy Q Asserts That "Druggs Wit H*es Pt. 3" Will Never Be Released

When Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul first stepped onto the scene, they became largely associated with druggy raps. Their mentioning of hard substances in their songs set them apart from fellow TDE artists, Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock. Schoolboy and Soul collaborated on two highly-admired debauchery anthems, “Druggys wit Hoes” and its sequel, “Druggys wit Hoes Again.” The first installment was featured on Schoolboy’s debut album, Setbacks, and the second on his sophomore effort, Habits & Contradictions

At the Los Angeles show for the Oxymoron tour in 2014, Schoolboy brought Soulo on stage to premiere “Druggys wit Hoes Pt. 3.” It resembled “Druggys wit Hoes Again” with its chaotic and dizzying feel. But even then, Schoolboy was starting to feel detached from the narcotic-filled lifestyle that the songs chronicled. Before performing “Pt. 3”, Schoolboy warned the crowd, “I don’t think we are ever going to drop it.”

It has now been five years since that show and fans are still hoping that the official version of the song might surface. Last night, Schoolboy was answering fans’ questions on Twitter and someone naively asked if the song would ever dropped. “I don’t do drug nomo dawg lol it’s neva Happening,” the CrasH Talk rapper reiterated.

Everyone should be happy that Schoolboy Q is sober now and stop pushing for him to revert to a past that he’s been distancing himself from for years.

Eminem Releasing New Album According To 50 Cent

When Eminem re-emerged on social media last month, the superstar rapper had everybody thinking that he was about to drop a diss record against Machine Gun Kelly or Lord Jamar. His menacing tweet seemingly featured a threat against anybody who wanted smoke and even though we never got an official release out of the post, it doesn't mean that something isn't still on the way. A few weeks ago, 50 Cent continued the speculation by claiming Eminem sent him a track for an upcoming project and, after the public started speculating about said body of work, he's back at it again with even more talk of a new Shady album.Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty ImagesDuring a video interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his show Power, Curtis Jackson touched on the status of his musical releases, noting that a few artists have sent him beats to hop on. Touching on his "Remember The Name" collaboration with Eminem on Ed Sheeran's new album, Fif says that another cut is on the way from the two legendary hip-hop characters. "I got another record from Em he sent me for his new album," uttered Jackson during the sit-down chat. "And then Ozuna, a Latin artist, sent me a record so I'm working with him."How long do you think we'll have to wait for this Eminem album to be released officially? Do you think it'll be a surprise like last time or will he opt for a traditional rollout?

By teckzilla Word Is Bond

Up and coming soul singer Nnenna King makes a solid debut on TWIB with the soul-drenched single titled “Why”. East London, UK born singer draws upon her experiences and pours it on wax as she delivers a heartfelt performance over the lush instrumental laid before her. “Why” details how love can be one-sided in relationships especially when one of the people involved is busy playing games and not being truthful. The song’s premise is very relatable and emotionally raw as King bares her soul with her commanding vocals and heartwarming lyrics.
Born and raised in East London, the young songstress pulls influence from the soul-stirring sounds her parents and siblings would play around the house, from the likes of Fela Kuti, Miles Davis and Anita Baker. Aaron Carter Praises Beyonce & The Beyhive Wants Him To Back Off

Soulja Boy isn't the only one who experienced a comeback this year. Aaron Carter has also been making headlines but perhaps, not for the right reasons. Over the past few weeks, familial issues, primarily with his older brother Nick, have been running rampant in the news, including claims of physical and sexual abuse. But it's his general antics that have helped him gain relevance again.Over the weekend, Aaron Carter was having a jolly ol' time on social media when he decided to show love to none other than Beyonce. Back in the day, when Aaron Carter was still at the top of the music industry, he used to rub elbows with the biggest stars in the game, including Queen Bey and Destiny's Child. To declare his comeback, he shared a real photo of himself and Beyonce dancing at a party.Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images "omg @Beyonce I just want you to know that love you always and your music! also, I wanted to let you know I never forgot when you let me open up for you and @destinyschild in 99 & 2000! that's all I wanted to say #Beyhive thank you for everything you've done for me. #IMBACKBEY," he wrote. Despite the shout out, the BeyHive was very wary of the shout out. Many said that he's clout-chasing and using Beyonce's name just to get his views up. The backlash prompted Aaron Carter to issue another statement, clarifying that he never actually reached out to Beyonce but rather, wanted to show his appreciation for her."I never asked beyonce to reach out. It’s fine. She’s knows me. & I know her. I just wanted to tell her thank you and she’s an inspiration. I need no clout from anyone. Trust me on that. Especially beyonce. We toured together and that’s a fact everyone acts like I lie @Beyonce," he wrote.
