Spotify CEO memorializes company executive killed in Stockholm truck attack

Anexecutive at Spotifywas among those killed in Fridays attack in Sweden, according to a post from the company’s CEO Daniel Ek.

Chris Bevington, 41, was a five-year employee serving as director of global partnerships and business development for the music streaming service. He was hit by a truck that was deliberately driven into an upscale department store near the center of Stockholm. Three others were killed and 15 were injured in the attack, which police believe was carried out by a 38-year-old from Uzbekistan who was refused residency.

“We are all devastated by the untimely and tragic death of our talented, compassionate and caring son Chris, Bevington’s father, John,told BBC in a statement. “A wonderful husband, son, father, brother and close friend to many. The family requests absolute privacy at this incredibly difficult time to mourn his passing in peace.”

The SpotifyCEO says his primary focus is on supporting the family and loved ones of Bevingtonin any way he can. He also wrote about the outpouring of compassion since the attack, like the “Lovefest” vigil in Stockholm on Sunday. His post was liked by Mark Zuckerberg, among other well-known figures.

The other victims of the attack werea female Belgian tourist, 31, and two Swedes including an 11-year-old girl who was walking home from school.

Police said all families of the deceased have been notified.
